TESL Summer Institute

The TESL Summer Institute is a program at Tulane during which students or community members can take between 1-4 classes over 3 or 6 weeks to work towards a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) endorsement. In order to be fully endorsed, each student must take all four classes, but they don't have to complete them all this summer. In addition, the course will be offered during the academic year at normal tuition rates and enrollment policies. The summer 2017 schedule consists of the following dates with classes held each workday, Monday through Friday:

June 5-June 23

The Summer Institute price is $571.50 per class, $2,286 for the whole summer institute, and each class will count as 3 academic credits. There may be a few other fees, such as $25 to apply to be a Tulane student, if you are not currently one.

Conversation Partner Program

The Conversation Partner Program pairs an international student with an American student or fluent English speaker to allow them to practice their English in casual, conversational setting and to help them adjust to life here at Tulane. This program helps to bridge the gap between the International and American communities on campus. Partners are created within the first few weeks of every semester, and pairs are expected to meet at least five times per semester, for at least an hour each time. This is a great way to meet people you wouldn't ordinarily meet and help an international student have the full Tulane experience. For more information, contact us at LearnEng@tulane.edu.

For the Spring semester, partners will be paired February 1st on a first come, first serve basis.
